One of the best "outsider" albums ever. An intimate, up-close examination of the personal thoughts and societal issues in the mind of Basehead (aka Michael Ivey), all delivered at a relaxed, pot-hazy pace. Elements of lofi acoustic rock, soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, and spoken word dialogue are all present in nearly equal parts. Some of it seems like radio theater, with recurring "conversation"-style moments between multiple voices. Truly like nothing else, and well-loved by those who know it. If you haven't heard it before, try to find a copy of the original Emigre version; it has samples intact and slightly different versions from what were on the wider release a year later on Imago Records.
